Man kills self after fall-out with mom

A BUHERA man cut his life short recently after a fall out with his mother over her money he had squandered.
Confirming the incident, deputy Manicaland provincial police spokesperson, Assistant Inspector Luxson Chananda, said the late Lazarus Mandiwenga (28) of Kandoro Village under Chief Nyashanu was given $88 by his mother Maimbodei Haisa (49) to buy baobab fruit for resale.

“Instead of going on the errand as instructed, Mandiwenga diverted the money to his own use. He returned home at around 1pm with neither the money nor the fruit, something which resulted in an altercation between him and his mother,” said Asst Insp Chananda.

After an hour or so of exchanging harsh words with his mother, Mandiwenga left home for Dhaure River, which is about 3km from their homestead.

He never returned home.
The following day, Mandiwenga’s mother alerted other villagers that her son had gone missing and immediately a search team started looking for him, but they could not find him.

Mandiwenga’s body was found three days later hanging from a fig tree by Rosika (74) of Moyougare Village who was looking for her lost cattle and she reported the finding to the police who attended to the scene.
