Man kills son in cold blood

A NYANGA man lived up to his utterances that he felt like killing a person when he eventually murdered his son in cold blood. A manhunt has since been launched for Washington Mawarira (22) for allegedly killing his son, Nigel (four). It is alleged that Washington arrived home in a drunken stupor and declared that he felt like taking someone’s life.

“Washington arrived home drunk around 9pm. He told his wife Lisa Mabwe that he felt like killing someone.
Lisa grabbed the other child and fled from the homestead. She went and sought refuge at her brother-in-law’s house, leaving Nigel with Washington. Lisa spent the whole night there,” said deputy Manicaland provincial police spokesperson, Assistant Inspector Luxson Chananda.

He said the following morning when Lisa was returning home, she met Washington wearing a blood-stained shirt.
“She arrived home only to discover that Nigel was severely injured. He had a deep cut on the head, bruises all over the body and swollen face and eyes,” he said.

Lisa informed a nearby relative, Rangarirai Mawarira, who then ferried Nigel to Nyanga District Hospital, where he died upon arrival.
