Uncle rapes nephew (10)

A CHIMANIMANI man (39) betrayed the trust bestowed on him by raping his unsuspecting 10-year-old nephew. Chipinge District police spokesperson Assistant Inspector Blessing Kadzuraumera confirmed the rape and said the suspect was assisting them with investigations. “Sometime in April at Ndima Village, the complainant went to Daniel Mahoso’s place on school holiday.

“During one of the nights, Daniel Mahoso, who is an uncle to the complainant, was left alone with the complainant.
“He sneaked into her bedroom where he raped her once. He threatened to kill her if she raised alarm.
“The following night he raped her again and gave her $1.

“The complainant reported the matter to her mother’s elder sister, Annia Mahoso (38), who had visited her, but she did not take any action.
“She later died in May. The matter came to light this month when the complainant fell ill and was taken to Chimanimani District Hospital by her mother’s young sister, Agatha Mahoso, where she revealed that she was raped twice on different occasions by her uncle.

“A report was made to the police and the complainant was taken for medical examination,” Asst Insp Kadzuraumera said.
In an unrelated incident, a 15-year-old juvenile from Muchadziya Village in Chimanimani was last week arrested for allegedly raping a 13-year-old from the same village.

Asst Insp Kadzuraumera said the complainant was on her way from her uncle’s homestead when she met the accused who was going in the opposite direction.

It is alleged that the accused proposed love to the complainant, but he was turned down.
“The teenager grabbed her and dragged her into the bush.
“The complainant tried to scream for help, but no one heard her.

“The accused then overpowered her and raped her once.
“He threatened to deal with her severely if she ever reported the matter to anyone,” said Asst Insp Kadzuraumera.S)
