Man knifed in neck during land boundary dispute

IN a shocking display of violence, a petty boundary dispute turned into a near-death experience, landing a 32-year-old Mberengwa man behind bars for six long years.
On 23 August 2024, Fortune Hove (32) visited the unnamed complainant’s residence in the Gazimbi village to resolve a boundary dispute.
Their conversation became heated when Hove accused, the complainant of clearing his field.
In a fit of rage, Hove stabbed the complainant in the neck, leading to his arrest.
The National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe (NPAZ) in an official statement on X, said, “Fortune Hove (32) from Mberengwa was arraigned before the Mberengwa Magistrates’ Court facing attempted murder charges. On the 23rd of August 2024, at around 1900 hours in Gazimbi village, the accused person went to the complainant’s residence and asked him to accompany him to the accused person’s residence to resolve a boundary dispute.
“Whilst on their way the accused person started accusing the complainant of clearing his field on the boundary and the conversation culminated into a heated argument. The accused person pulled a knife from his pocket and stabbed the complainant once in the neck.”
The court handed down a 6-year sentence, suspending 2 years, resulting in a 4-year imprisonment for Hove.
