A 43-YEAR-OLD man was recently nabbed with 37 bales of second-hand clothes after he was involved in a car accident along Vumba Road.
Acting Manicaland provincial police spokesperson, Assistant Inspector Wiseman Chinyoka said: “The accused person, Learnmore Chipuru was driving a white Nissan NV350 vehicle registration number AGS 4061 along Vumba road due north with no passengers on board. Upon reaching the intersection of Vumba road and Mutare-Chimanimani Road, the accused person’s vehicle was hit by Scania Truck with no registration plates, on the front right side, and the truck did not stop. The accused person’s vehicle sustained extensive right frontal damages.
“The scene was attended by police from Mutare. During scene six informant noticed bales of second-hand clothes in the vehicle. After counting, it was established that the vehicle had 37 bales of second-hand clothes stacked inside it. The accused person and 37 bales of second-hand clothes were taken to police at Mutare Central using the station vehicle awaiting seizure by the Zimbabwe Revenue Authority.”
