A BULAWAYO man has offered $25 maintenance for his four children.

Thomas Murambiwa of Nketa suburb told a court that he could not afford $345 claimed by his ex-wife Gamuchira Zhou of the same suburb.

He said he earns $413 every month.

“Your worship I offer $25 for the upkeep of my four children because I’m maintaining two other children. I’ve since remarried and my wife needs my support. The money that she is claiming is too much,” he said.

Murambiwa told magistrate Enias Magate that he divorced Zhou after she suffered from mental  illness. “We separated sometime last year after she suffered from a mental illness. She was staying in our rural home all along. Zhou is also in my house these days though she stays in rural areas,” said Murambiwa.

Magistrate Magate ordered Murambiwa to pay $160.
