A 11-year-old girl has been subjected to sexual abuse and threats by her uncle since November last year.
Identified only as Edward, the uncle would rape the girl, threatening the minor if she was to disclose the act.
The minor was reported to have shouted for help on the first act but none of the neighbours heard her voice.
The heinous act came to light on Tuesday when her mother noticed that the child had some difficulties in walking.
She asked her but the daughter did not disclose anything.
The mother took the child to police Victim Friendly Unit where she disclosed the rape.
Harare provincial police spokesperson Inspector Luckmore Chakanza confirmed the case appealing for information that may lead to the arrest of Edward.
“Police are investigating a rape case involving relatives in Mbare.
“They stay together at the same house.
“In November 2024, her parent went to work and left accused person, complainant and their ailing grandmother at home.
“The accused person called the complainant to his room.
“The complainant complied and stood by the door and he dragged complainant into his room and raped her once without protection.
“The complainant screamed for help but no one came to her rescue.
“The accused person threatened to kill the complainant if she disclosed the matter to anyone and he raped her for the second time on another date after school.
“Complainant was escorted to Edith MSF for medical examination,” said Insp Chakanza.
