AN attempt to scare night club bouncers by producing a service pistol landed a 43-year-old Chitungwiza man in trouble for contravening the Firearms Act. It was the State’s case led by Mr Douglas Mutiure that on March 22, Needmore Manangwa (26) produced a firearm and pointed it at Itai Kariwepiri (43) at The Platinum Club. Manangwa is being charged with knowingly and without lawful cause pointing a firearm at any other person as defined in Section 27(b) of the Firearms Act, Chapter 10.09
It is alleged that Munangwa went to The Platinum intending to buy beer and was told by Kariwepiri that he could not enter the premises but should buy beer from outside.
This did not go down well with Manangwa who insisted and a misunderstanding arose, which resulted in him drawing out his service pistol.
Appearing in court before Mutare senior magistrate Mrs Sekai Chiundura on March 23, Manangwa denied the charges, saying that he had a firearm but did not point it at anyone.
He was remanded out of custody to March 30 on $20 bail.
