Man rapes 10-year-old

A 36-YEAR-OLD Harare man appeared in court on allegations of raping his neighbour’s 10-year old daughter on several occasions. On each occasion, the man (name withheld to protect victim’s identity)would give the juvenile a $1 to silence her. The man, who is married, reportedly proposed love to the minor, who turned him down.He appeared before magistrate Mr Tendai Mahwe and was remanded in custody to August 29 with instructions to seek bail at High Court.

Prosecutor Mr Peter Kachirika alleged that sometime in December last year, the victim went to the accused’s house to play. He allegedly took advantage of his wife’s absence to propose love to the girl but she refused.

He then allegedly raped her.
