A 22-year-old Dzivaresekwa woman was raped by a self-styled prophet at the church premises on Wednesday.
The unidentified prophet lured the woman to the worshiping place by claiming that he had been given some prophecies about her life.
She was at Dzivaresekwa 2 bus terminus and the self-styled prophet by passed her.
After a few seconds he came back running, pat her on the right shoulder and told her that he had a prophecy for her and he wanted to help.
He ordered the woman to pick three small stones and placed them on her palms.
The self-styled prophet then pat her thrice on her palms with a knobkerrie and she allegedly lost her voice.
She became weak and sat down on the ground.
The self-styled prophet lifted her up and took her to Spirit Revival International church entrance where he raped her once without protection.
Harare provincial police spokesperson Inspector Luckmore Chakanza confirmed the case saying the self-styled prophet was reported to have used a white cloth to clean up and put it in his pocket.
“Police are investigating a rape case involving a self-styled prophet,” said Insp Chakanza.
“The accused person claimed to have cleansed the complainant after raping her.
“Complainant was referred to Adult rape Clinic at Parirenyatwa, Harare for medical examination,” said Insp Chakanza.
