A HARARE woman is battling for her life after she was left for dead by her husband who allegedly assaulted her with an iron bar and rubbed chilli powder in her eyes.
Dickson Kasakula was not asked to plead when he appeared before magistrate Marehwanazvo Gofa who remanded him in custody pending finalisation of investigations.
The court heard that Kasakula and his wife Brenda had a misunderstanding on Saturday, after she found out that he had another wife.
Brenda told Kasakula that she wanted to return to her rural home.
Kasakula then rubbed her eyes with chilli powder.
Later that night, Brenda attempted to run away and Kasakula chased after her and assaulted her with an iron bar, causing serious injuries on her head and arm.
