A 37-year-old Lobengula man, formerly a cannabis farm worker in Douglasdale, has been sentenced to 60 months (5 years) in prison for stealing processed plants worth US$12 000.

Martin Masuku allegedly committed the offence in December last year, after breaking into a storage room at the farm and stealing 30 kg of the plant, which he later sold.

Prosecuting Mr Samuel Mpofu told the court that Masuku was later apprehended when the farm security noted a break-in.

He appeared before Bulawayo magistrate Mr Takudzwa Gawazemba, who commuted him to the judgment.
