A NYANGA man (35) fell into a well he was digging on Monday. Police confirmed the incident which happened in Village 16, Ruchera under Chief Saunyama. It is alleged that Wency Katerere met his fate at around 3pm as he tried to come out of the well to retire from the day’s work. He was crawling up using little manholes drilled on either sides of the well.

He slipped just before reaching the ground level and tumbled back into the already 10 meters deep well.
Villagers tried to rescue him, but in vain.

Headman Saruchera said they were shocked by the incident and urged people to acquire all the requisite skills on how to dig wells before embarking on this deadly menial job.
Katerere was laid to rest on Wednesday.
