A 25-YEAR-OLD Chirumanzu man will rot in jail after being sentenced to 16 years for sodomising a seven-year-old boy. The Gweru Regional Court handed down the heavy sentence after the man was found guilty of aggravated indecent assault. The sickening incident occurred on 14August 2025. The boy was sent by his guardian to collect vegetables at the offender’s home.
Inside the house, the predator pounced, forcibly laying the boy on his stomach and violating him. He then threatened the child to keep him silent. The brave boy told his grandmother, leading to the man’s arrest and conviction.
The National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe (NPAZ) issued a strong warning to parents and guardians, urging them not to send children alone to other people’s homes.
“Let’s prioritise their safety by supervising them closely and keeping open lines of communication. Protecting children requires vigilance from all of us.” “Together, we can build safer communities,” said the authority in a statement.
