A 54-YEAR-OLD man from Farm Drive Manningdale in Bulawayo was arrested for hitting his wife with an iron bar and stabbing her with an okapi knife after they had a misunderstanding.
Tebby Zimba (54) appeared before Bulawayo magistrate Polite Dube Banda facing physical abuse charges. He pleaded guilty to the offence. The matter was remanded to 28 March 2025 for continuation of trial.
Circumstances are that on 7 March 2025 at around 10pm, Primrose Sibanda (37) was at home with Zimba when a misunderstanding ensued between them.
Zimba is said to have picked up an iron bar, hit Sibanda with it several times all over the body and went on to stab her once on the right arm with an okapi knife. The matter was reported to the police leading to the arrest of Zimba.
Meanwhile, in another unrelated case a 28-year-old man from Njube suburbs in Bulawayo was arrested for assaulting his wife with an empty beer bottle and brick over infidelity issues.
Newman Sibanda (28) was arraigned before the court facing physical abuse charges. He also pleaded guilty to the offence.
The court heard that on 1 March 2025 at around 5pm, Simelinkosi Ngwenya (30) was spotted by her husband Sibanda passing by Manor Hotel.
Sibanda is said to have requested to check Ngwenya’s phone and she refused with it. Upon hearing this, Sibanda is said to have been angered and became violent.
Sibanda went on to assault Ngwenya with an empty beer bottle once on the left side of her eye and hit her with a brick on the left cheek. The matter was reported to the police leading to the arrest of Sibanda.
