Nkosizile Ndlovu
A daring man from Vundu Flats in Makokoba suburb of Bulawayo was convicted of stealing a patienta��s bed at Mpilo Central Hospital.
Ronic Ndlovu (32, ABOVE) appeared before the court charged with theft as defined in Section 113 of the Criminal Law (Codification and Reform) Act Chapter 9:23. Presiding Magistrate Adailine Mbeure sentenced Ndlovu to 15 days in prison with an option of a $20A� fine.
The prosecutor Caroline Matanga told the court that on 15 May 2016 in the afternoon at Mpilo Central Hospital premises, the accused person was spotted in action by an alert security guard who was on duty, Blessing Nyahudo.
Ndlovu kept his cool as he carried the white single bed out of the hospital.
a�?The accused person was spotted by the security guard leaving Mpilo Hospital premises carrying the single bed on his head. The security guard gave chase and arrested him near Mzilikazi High School before he took him to Mzilikazi Police Station,a�? Matanga said.
The value of the bed is $15 and it was recovered. In his defence Ndlovu told the court that he thought the bed was rubbish since he picked it up at the Hospitala��s scrap yard.
a�?I am sorry Your Worship; I thought the bed was no longer needed at the hospital. I picked it up in the scrap yard. I wish to apologise about what happened. I will not repeat it again in future,a�? pleaded Ndlovu. .
