SHORT cuts are often wrong cuts!

This rang true to Simbarashe Guma (25) of Entumbane suburb who was stoned on the head and legs before he was robbed of his cash by an unknown five-member gang while walking along a footpath to his home.

Guma, who was walking home at around 8pm last week on Friday was attacked a few minutes away from home by five unknown men. The gang that was armed with stones appeared from the bush and ordered him to lie on the ground. The source said while he was trying to figure out what was happening one of the gang members slapped him on the face.

“He tried to run away but one of the guys hit him on the head with a stone and as a result he fell. They hit him once again with a stone on the leg. Luckily one of the gang members warned them not to hit him with stones and they then attacked him with fists and kicked him all over the body. They left him shirtless,” said the source.

The source said he sustained injuries on the body and bled profusely from the nose and mouth. Due to heavy bleeding, the source said, he passed out.

“They took his Samsung cellphone, US50 and $700. He later on gained consciousness and two good Samaritans carried the bloodied Guma to Entumbane Police Station where a report was made before an ambulance rushed him to Mpilo Central Hospital for treatment,” said the source.

Bulawayo police spokesperson Inspector Abednico Ncube said: “We urge members of the public to stop using footpaths as they are often dangerous and it becomes easier for criminals to attack them.” He appealed to anyone who might have information about the whereabouts of the five unknown men to contact any nearest police station.
