Man strikes juvenile with a machete

A 18-YEAR-OLD man from Fort Rixon in Matabeleland South Province has been nabbed for allegedly striking a 16-year-old boy with a machete at a party.

Terrence Tshuma was arraigned before Bulawayo regional magistrate Sibonginkosi Mnkandla facing a charge of attempted murder. He was not asked to plead and was remanded in custody to 12 February.

Allegations against Tshuma are that on 12 August 2024 at around 11pm, the culprit was at a party at Collet Dlodlo’s homestead.

While he was at the party, he spotted the juvenile who was walking out of one of the nearby houses and he approached him.

Tshuma was armed with a machete and a misunderstanding between the two ensued. The culprit resorted to using a machete to fight the victim.

He lifted up the machete to strike the victim on the head but fortunately, he managed to dodge and Tshuma struck the victim’s wrists.

A witness , Knowledge Nkosi ran to the scene and restrained Tshuma from further assaulting the victim. The matter was reported to the police, leading to the arrest of the culprit.

The victim was taken to the hospital for medical examination and a medical report was produced in court as evidence.
