A 22-YEAR-OLD man from Fort Rixon fell into a dam and drowned while taking a stroll along the dam wall.
Opraise Ncube of Makhobani Farm, who was partially blind, drowned recently while in the company of a woman, Ms Moreblessing Ncube (25) of Village 1.
The two were walking between the Fort Rixon Dam wall and the spill way at around 6PM on Saturday and Opraise, who wore gumboots, slipped and fell into the dam.
Matabeleland South acting police spokesperson Assistant Inspector Loveness Mangena confirmed the incident. “I can confirm we received a report of sudden death of a 22-year-old man who slipped and fell into a dam and drowned. A villager retrieved the body and it was ferried to United Bulawayo Hospitals for post mortem. Police continue to warn members of the public against playing near unprotected water bodies. To avoid such dangers, both adults and children should stay away from water bodies,” she said.
