A 23-year-old man from Njube suburb in Bulawayo has been sentenced to one month in prison for causing property damage.
Bukhosi Ndlovu appeared before Bulawayo Magistrate Mr Maxwell Ncube, where he pleaded guilty to the charges against him.
Prosecutor Mehluli Ndlovu said the incident occurred on June 28 at Pioneer House in the Central Business District. Ndlovu engaged in a public fistfight with three other individuals, who fled the scene. During the altercation, he caused significant damage to a glass front door by punching it.
Revolt Nkala, a security guard at Pioneer House, testified that on June 28 at around 3 AM, he discovered a group of about six people fighting just outside the front door. As he approached them, he witnessed Ndlovu breaking a window by punching it, shattering it halfway.
While the other participants in the fight managed to escape, Ndlovu stayed behind and sought refuge with the police since he had injured his right hand during the brawl. The total value of the damaged property is estimated at US$50.
