LONDON. – Wayne Rooney believes Manchester United will still be a success this season despite their present struggles.
Louis van Gaal’s £150 million summer spending could not prevent United losing a two-goal lead before eventually slipping to a 5-3 defeat at Leicester on Sunday.
Rooney was visibly unhappy with some of his team-mates’ performances. But he says the future is bright.
“A lot of people seem to have written us off because of Sunday’s result but I don’t see it that way,” he said.
Rooney, who was appointed captain by Van Gaal this season, added: “When I look around our dressing room and see the quality we have and the manager’s unbelievable attention to detail I have no doubts this team will be successful.”
Van Gaal’s team are currently 12th in the English Premier League. – BBC Sport.
