A SAKUBVA man was hauled before the courts facing three counts of domestic violence and impersonating a police officer.

Brian Seke (34) appeared before Mutare magistrate Ms Perseverance Makala, who sentenced him to four months in jail, and suspended two months on usual conditions.

Seke was accused of twisting Susan Nyadombo’s hand, and beating his mother-in-law Josephine Muringa with open hands.

He was also accused of malicious damage to property, for which he was ordered to restitute or face 10 days in prison.

For impersonating a police officer, Seke was slapped with 20 days in prison or to pay a fine of US$200.

Seke was charged with contravening Section 3(1)(a) as read with Section 4(1) of the Domestic Violence Act (Chapter 5:16) and impersonating public official as per Section 179 of the Criminal Law Codification and Reform Act (Chapter 9:23).

Prosecutor Deliwa Masibera said: “On May 17, 2025, Seke and Nyadombo met since she wanted to collect school fees for their children, and the accused asked her to give him her phone and she refused. This angered Seke, who twisted her hand. She managed to escape and ran in the house.

“Muringa tried to stop Seke from entering the house, and she was assaulted with open hands and fists. Seke accused her of being the main reason for their break up. The accused went on and broke six window panes at the house.”

Seke was arrested the same day, during which he was apprehended while wearing a complete police uniform, with handcuffs.
