MAN WANTS US$20 MAINTENANCE FOR HIS KID REDUCED

Tafara Chibanda.

A HARARE man says he is struggling to foot the monthly payment of US$20 to maintain his son and wants the amount to be reduced.

His ex-wife is demanding an increase to US$100 due to their child’s educational expenses.

Prince Makonese told the Harare Civil Court:

“I am already struggling to pay US$20.

“Reducing the amount would be a more realistic expectation and my ex-wife should consider enrolling our child in a government school to ease the financial burden.”

He told the court that he is an airtime vendor.

His ex-wife Lisa Chambe said:

“He has other sources of income and does not have any family he is supporting.

“His relatives have confirmed he is not married and his side hustles generate sufficient income.”

Presiding Magistrate Joana Mukwesha ordered Makonese to pay US$50 in maintenance every month until the child comes of age.
