Givemore Nyazvigo (30) of Number 82 Cecil Avenue in Hillside was committed to the prison last September for psychiatric evaluation after he told the court that he was seeing a vision of his late wife in remand prison.
Nyazvigo was supposed to stay at the prison for 28 days so he could be examined by two medical doctors in terms of the Mental Health Act but his condition has reportedly not improved hence he is still detained at the prison.
He has been remanded in custody in absentia three times as he is unfit to attend court.
On Thursday, Nyazvigo was supposed to appear before Bulawayo magistrate Mr Tawanda Muchemwa for routine remand on the murder charge and was remanded in absentia to 25 January.
Nyazvigo is facing murder charges after he allegedly killed his wife Lydia Sibanda in August last year.
It is alleged that the couple had a domestic dispute and on one of the days during an argument while at their matrimonial house, Nyazvigo allegedly picked an axe with a metal handle and struck his wife once on the forehead.
Ms Sibanda died instantly.
Nyazvigo then allegedly chopped her body into pieces and loaded parts into sacks and plastic bags, which he allegedly went on to drop at different points around the city.
Some of the parts were picked in Famona and North End suburbs during indications following Nyazvigo’s arrest.
The court was told that after dropping body parts around the city, Nyazvigo reportedly went to his sister’s home in North End where he confessed to killing his wife.
A report was made to the police leading to his arrest.
The axe and kitchen knife that he allegedly used to strike Ms Sibanda and cut her body into pieces were recovered at his house.
It is alleged one of his friends; a Mr Ray Moyo visited the house in Hillside and saw a human head after he had cut the body into pieces while a human leg that was confirmed to be Ms Sibanda’s was picked up near Gifford High School in Famona.
When he appeared in court last year, Nyazvigo claimed that he was seeing a vision of his late wife seated on a chair and asked to be taken to a psychiatrist.
Mr Malvern Nzombe appeared for the State.
