CHISUMBANJE ethanol producing concern, Green Fuel’s industrial clothing project – Mana Creative Fashions – recently celebrated its first anniversary amid pomp and fanfare.

Mana Creative Fashions was established as one of the company’s social responsibility initiatives and has since grown in leaps and bounds from producing 30 work-suits in a week to producing more than 150 in a week.

Speaking during the first anniversary celebrations held at Mana Creative Fashions factory on Tuesday, Ministry of Small and Medium Enterprises Chief Business Development Officer for Manicaland, Mr Kupukai Masunungure, commended Green Fuel for empowering locals, especially women.

“Green Fuel is demonstrating commendable corporate social responsibility work and the rewards are there for all to see. SMEs are struggling owing to lack of finance, but here at Mana Creative Fashions, you are lucky that Green Fuel is providing finance to run your business.

“We also see SMEs struggling to get space to operate from, but again here at Mana Creative Fashions, a nice and electrified building has been put up for you by Green Fuel.

“SMEs are also facing challenges with regards to lack of knowledge, but personnel at Mana Creative Fashions are being given skills for free, thanks to Green Fuel. There is really no good reason for failure at all. In fact, Mana Creative Fashions must now look forward to improve from a small-scale business entity to a medium-scale one,” he said.

Speaking during the same occasion, a councillor for the area, Cde Misheck Busangavanye, echoed Mr Masunungure’s sentiments, saying the community has seen commendable development initiatives being undertaken by Green Fuel since its inception.

“We really want to thank Green Fuel for the development initiatives it has undertaken since its inception. As a community that was underdeveloped, we only knew that clothing factories exist in Harare and other cities not here in Chisumbanje, but owing to Green Fuel it is now being done here. We want to urge Mana Crative Fashions to expand their operations and even venture into school uniform production so that locals can also benefit at a wider scale,” said Cde Busangavanye.
