before Harare magistrate Ms Anita Tshuma.
He was remanded to December 10 on US$100 bail.
As part of his bail conditions, Horonga was ordered to reside at the given address, surrender travel documents and report once every week to the police.
Prosecutor Mr Tungamirai Chakurira alleges that Horonga’s duties included overseeing the total financial duties within the company.
Sometime between January 27 this year to October 31, Horonga created his own system known as the ‘I owe you policy’.
In this case, Horonga would allegedly use unsanctioned petty cash vouchers to withdraw funds for personal use from the company’s treasury account on the pretext he was going to repay later.
The system is allegedly contrary to the company policy as the company only authorised withdrawal of funds for personal use through approved loan applications.
To cover the offence, on May 15, 2012, Horonga applied for a loan of US$13 300, it is alleged.
The loan was approved and Horonga did not withdraw the money from the treasury account as he had already used the money, the court was told.
Mr Chakurira alleged that Horonga used the unsanctioned petty cash vouchers and obtained a total of US$19 074.
