Manchester United manager says Rashford’s absence is “his choice”

ENGLAND: Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim said that Marcus Rashford’s ongoing absence from the team is “his choice.”

Rashford has not played in the last nine matches and is expected to leave the English Premier Soccer League club this month, as he wants a “new challenge.”

After United lost 3-1 to Brighton on Sunday, Amorim was asked about Rashford. He said, “I will not put a player on the field if I don’t think he is the best for the team. It is his choice not to play.”

Amorim added, “I don’t want to focus on this tough time because Rashford is not here for the games we lost. We can’t blame him for our struggles.”

Rashford is being sought by clubs like AC Milan, Borussia Dortmund, and Juventus for a possible loan deal, but it seems unlikely that United will get their £40 million asking price.

Amorim also admitted that the team is not performing well, saying they might be the “worst team” in Manchester United’s history.

“In the last ten Premier League games, we only won two,” he said. “This is hard for Manchester United fans and for me as a coach.”

He added, “We have a new coach, but he is losing more games than the last one. I understand the situation. We need to recognize it to make changes.”

Amorim expressed frustration with the team’s performance, stating, “Everyone is underperforming, and it’s unacceptable to lose so many games. Other teams are better than us in many ways, and we are not consistent. I am not helping my players right now.”

He concluded by saying the team is in a tough spot, with poor records at home and in the league. “I know we can improve, but we need to get through this moment. My approach will not change. (Mirror)
