A 22-YEAR-OLD man from Nguboyenja suburb in Bulawayo committed suicide by hanging on a roof truss at an employees’ cottage on Sunday.
Polite Ncube hanged himself with a belt and his body was discovered by one of his colleagues.
Circumstances are that on 19 January 2025 at around 7pm, Ncube was seen drinking beer under a shade at his workplace. He later proceeded to the employee’s cottage, where he resides.
At around 8pm, a colleague went to Ncube’s room and knocked at the door while calling him. There was no response, he opened the door and discovered the body of the now deceased was hanging from the roof truss.
The matter was reported to the police and the body was inspected. The police noted that there were no injuries on the victim’s body and no suicidal note was found in the victim’s room.
The body was taken to United Bulawayo Hospital (UBH) mortuary for postmortem.
Bulawayo acting police spokesperson Assistant Inspector Nomalanga Msebele confirmed the incident and urged the public to seek counselling.
“We encourage members of the public to share their problems with their relatives or people whom they trust.
“As the police, we have the Community Relations Liaison Officers at every police station and we urge the public to visit the offices and talk to us to avoid unnecessary loss of life.We also refer them to other stakeholders if need be,” she said.
