The eastern bay and the VIP Enclosure have been demolished and workers are busy erecting new stands that will have bucket seats fitted when all work has been completed.
“We are working on the stadium and we are almost through. The stadium should be ready by the first week of February” said Phillimon Muvengwa, the secretary-general for the club.
The stadium is expected to carry 16 000 fans for the game against the Swazi team and work will then continue on the northern stand and part of the eastern side were two bays are going to be erected with one already being worked on.
The turf is already in excellent shape.
The toilets are being demolished and replaced by new ones.
A new media centre will also be erected.
Mimosa, who are FC Platinum’s parent club, clinched an agreement with the Zvishavane Town Council to lease the ground for a number of years.
FC Platinum have emulated Shabanie Mine who played against St Michel of Mauritius in 2002 in the then Africa Cup Winners Cup at Maglas.
The platinum miners said they were not hiring Lloyd Chitembwe onto their technical staff.
“Chitembwe has not joined us as well as Joel Mogorosi. People are just speculating. We have not even added any new players except the ones we registered to take part in the Caf competition,” said Muvengwa.
“As a club we are very happy with our preparations and I think we will gauge our strength in our first competitive match to be played on Saturday.”
FC Platinum are one of the teams to watch this season after finishing second to Dynamos in the championship race last year, losing the battle on goal difference. Only the Glamour Boys took maximum points from Mandava last season.
FC Platinum are widely regarded as the best -run club in the country.
The team returned from their secret camp in Kariba and started training yesterday in preparations for their Bob 88 showdown against Motor Action at Sakubva on Saturday.
