TRIANGLE chairman Weston Jemwa says they are set to announce the team’s new coach today amid reports that former Dynamos and Scottland coach, Genesis Mangombe is the overwhelming favourite.
The Sugar Boys ended their union with Luke Masomere, who had managed just a point out of a possible 18 points.
Mangombe is being tipped by some as the best man available for this post.
Mangombe is said to have abandoned his Tanzanian top-flight team, Tabora United, and fled without telling his employers in his bid to prove his readiness and commitment to Triangle. It was after he realised that he had nothing on the Tanzanian Premiership after suffering four straight defeats as Tabora United coach.
It has also emerged that former CAPS United boss Mark Harrison has made himself available for consideration.
Jemwa declined to reveal the names of the coaches who have shown interest, but he confirmed that most coaches are attached to domestic PSL teams.
Jemwa revealed that the club is still considering the best man to appoint as Masomere’s replacement.
“We have not made any decision regarding Masomere’s successor. Many coaches have applied for this post, and we are not going to make a rushed decision.
“We have taken our time to come up with the best man among those who showed interest, and we are going to make an announcement today,” said Jemwa.
Newsome Mutema has been acting as the club’s coach following Masomere’s departure.
“We trust Mutema, and he is the one who has been conducting all training sessions.
“It’s just a matter of time before we make permanent changes in our coaching setup, but we trust him to the extent that even if we do not reach an agreement today, he can give us the needed support,” he said.
Triangle host Yadah at Gibbo this Sunday.
