HARARE City’s 1-0 victory over Triangle United saw them end a lengthy winless streak.
The Sunshine Boys camp has been hit by internal problems with the players not receiving their wages on time.
Injuries to key players haven’t helped their cause.
Wilfred Muvirimi, Innocent Zambezi, Kelvin Shangiwa, Clive Rupiya, and Timothy January are some of the key players who have been missing due to injuries.
Defender Collin Mujuru had his contract terminated. Tatenda Tumba left the club for UK and recently Emmanuel Mandiranga crossed the divide to join CAPS United.
Coach Taurai Mangwiro said the win against Triangle came as a relief to the team.
“It was a very welcome relief. It has been a while since we last won.
“Playing Triangle wasn’t an easy job.
“It was a hard-won victory for us and it will be good if we continue like that in our next games.
“The team has been playing well, despite the bad results.”
Mangwiro believes although they have been affected by the departure and unavailability of some key players they won’t give up the fight.
“Players have the right to move when they feel so, Emmanuel Mandiranga was our top goalscorer and was key in our squad.
“We wish him the best in his new endeavour.
“As for the ones who are injured, we are trying to cover their gaps with those who are available.
“On Saturday, you saw us playing without a natural striker as two of our strikers are out due to injuries.
“We played players who are used to playing in midfield. We can’t keep on crying over things that we cannot control, that is how we came with the option of playing without outright strikers.
“The road to recovery is a long one. We surely need to be at our best to continue winning matches and for us to rise to safety.”
