WHAWHA striker Albert Matewu was at his very best as he scored a brace in his team’s 2-1 win over Highlanders at Ascot, over the weekend.
The 29 year- year-old is a lifelong fan of Bosso.
He gave his side the lead in the 14th minute before adding another with just eight minutes before the break.
He took his tally to five goals.
Interestingly, he nearly joined Bosso in 2016 but the move failed to materialise as he ran out of patience over the delays in his paperwork.
“I think we worked very hard for the victory, we did everything right from the beginning up to the final whistle.
“I’m happy with the brace, and I want to dedicate the goals to the coach Luke Petros, who has been encouraging us to believe.
“We still have high chances of surviving relegation and the ball is in our court, we just need to remain consistent,” said Matewu.
The Zimbabwe Prisons Correctional Service side are not strangers to upsetting the league’s giants.
Recently, they hammered Chicken Inn 3-0, Ngezi 3-0 and Bosso are the latest to suffer a shock defeat at the hands of the basement side.
It was also Baltermar Brito’s first loss since taking charge of Bosso.
Brito’s troops saw their eight-game unbeaten run coming to an end.
“I was the first to forget about the goals because I was in agony after the game.
“I have been and I will forever be a Highlanders supporter, I remember as a kid, I would cry each time Bosso lost and, even up to this day, nothing has changed.
“My fear is losing anyone from our team at this moment because we really need each other more than ever if we are to entertain any chances of playing in the top-flight next season.”
Before joining WhaWha, Matewu had stints with Harare City and Flame Lily.
