Mangwiro focuses on positives

HARARE City coach, Taurai Mangwiro, believes it’s time to focus more on positives to boost their chances of surviving relegation.

His side were involved in a goalless draw with Bulawayo Chiefs at the National Sports Stadium on Saturday.

The match started slowly with the hosts failing to have a shot on target in the entire first half.

Chiefs only managed one shot on target from Mthokozisi Msebe’s effort, which did not trouble City’s goalminder Tawanda Dendera.

In the second half, both teams showed a bit of urgency, as they sought to draw first blood.

“We needed to maximise playing at home, but we need to be content with the point we got,” said Mangwiro.

“Most importantly, we put a stop to conceding.

“In the last four games, we conceded two goals in three games and a goal in another game against Chicken Inn.

“So, we came out with a clean sheet, and it’s a plus on our side,” he said.

Mangwiro believes his boys have been showing good fighting spirit.

“We should build a lot of confidence in ourselves.

“We have to try to grind results. “We can’t run away from the fact that we are in the murky waters of relegation.

“Now the countdown has started and we look forward to getting maximum points in the coming games.

“All we need is to keep on believing that it can be done. “The boys were fighting and with this kind of fighting, I don’t see the boys going down,” he said.

Bulawayo Chiefs coach Nilton Terroso said it was a difficult game for them.

“I think it’s positive in the sense that we came away with a point. “We would want to win these games because we were progressing, but when we come to Harare, it’s never easy,” he said.
