MANICALAND Agricultural Show kicked off today amid pomp and funfare.
Over 130 exhibitors showcased products at the event’s launch today, with more expected.
In an interview, Manicaland Agricultural Show Society administrator, Mrs Pedzisai Rusero, said they recorded a 50 percent increase in new exhibitors this year compared to last year.
“We so far have 28 new exhibitors, while last year we only had 14 new exhibitors and it is a positive outcome,” she said.
The event is running under the theme: “Agriculture in driving sustainable economic growth”, and will end on Sunday.
Gate charges vary: Thursday ($3 adults, $2 kids), Friday ($4/$3), Saturday ($5/$3), with musical performances by Oriyano, Nisha Ts, and Master H.
“Business is enormous with new exhibitors; we have created a conducive environment,” Mrs Rusero noted.
Exhibitors had today set up stands with school kids attending in their numbers despite slow initial business.
Minister of State for Manicaland Provincial Affairs and Devolution, Advocate Misheck Mugadza will officially open the show tomorrow.
Mrs Rusero said they expect to surpass last year’s 140 exhibitors, with over 150 anticipated.
