SCHOOLS in Manicaland are ready for reopening after receiving personal protective equipment that is expected to last at least six weeks, the provincial education director has said.

After delays in reopening of schools owing to the Covid-19 pandemic, Government finally announced that schools will be reopening on Monday next week, and a new comprehensive schools calendar for the year 2022 is expected this week.

Speaking during a Zimbabwe Union of Journalist Press Club session held at Courtauld Theatre in Mutare last Friday, Acting Manicaland Provincial Education Director, Mr Richard Gabaza confirmed that personal protective equipment were distributed to all districts in the province.

“As the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education we are ready for the reopening of schools in Manicaland. Personal protective equipment has since been distributed to all the districts of the province.

“We hired vehicles from CMED for that task and I am happy to announce that by Monday all the equipment will be where it needs to be. We have acquired equipment that should last for at least six weeks,” said Mr Gabaza.
