Mantas dominate Astra Paints Open

MUTARE-BASED Mantas Tennis Academy players continued with their above average performance when they once again dominated in the just ended Astra Paints Open finals in Harare.
The Astra Paints Open tournament, which started early last week, came to an end last Thursday.
Elated Mantas Tennis Academy administrator Vincent Nyatoti confirmed that players from the academy performed well in the recent tournament, with a lot of players in different age groups going all the way to the finals.

“The academy had players who competed in the U-10 green ball, Michael Happy was the winner and Aubrey Mupezeni of Chancellor Primary School was the runner-up.

“Michael further teamed up with Emmanuel Mupanduki to play in the doubles competition, where they were defeated by Taona Muhwandigere and Ene Balla of Harare.  “U-10 girls green ball was won by Leen Paivha of Mutare Junior and Beyonce Jani of Mutare Junior too was the runner-up. Anesu Kwirirai of Chancellor Primary School defeated Vencent Munyawiri of Harare Mufakose in the U-14 competition. U-16 and U-18 were compiled and the academy field Bevely Matsiya U-14 who was defeated in the finals by Tariro Dembo,” said the administrator.

He said the academy is encouraging everyone interested in playing tennis as from the age of four years to come partake in training sessions at Mutare Girls’ High.

“We are having training session at Mutare Girls’ High from Monday to Friday starting from 2pm to 5pm. On Saturday we start at 8:30am until 1pm. We normally encourage parents with children within that age range to bring them and let them showcase their talents in tennis,” he said.
