MAPEZA REMAINS CALM

NORMAN Mapeza says the three-time champions understand the pressure of being on top but he has been talking to his players about the value of remaining calm.

FC Platinum lead the championship race, with a five-point cushion, with Chicken Inn leading the trailing lot.

The champions travel to Harare to face struggling Dynamos at the National Sports Stadium on Sunday.

“Everything is fine, we just have to keep working hard,” he told H-Metro.

“We know where we are and we have been talking to the players to remain calm and focused.

“We understand the pressure and demands that come with being on top of the log.

“But we want our boys to remain focused and take each game at a time.

“At this point, we are not thinking of the title as yet. We are more concerned about improving ourselves.”

He added:

“There is still room for improvement and we want to keep working hard.

“We are going to treat our match against Dynamos like any other game.

“In the league, there is no classification of games, whether you are playing Whawha or any other team.

“We have to treat them equally.

“So, we are going to take our upcoming game, like any other game, and see how things will turn out.”

Dynamos lost in their last game away to Cranborne Bullets 0-1 at Vengere in Rusape on Saturday.

The Glamour Boys have now gone three games without a win since the beginning of the second half of the season.

DeMbare will be hoping to get back to winning ways to keep their hopes of the title alive.

Mapeza, who was named the Coach of the Month for May, however, admits it won’t be an easy game.

“Dynamos will certainly want to get back to winning ways and will not make it any easy for us.

“And like I said, we need to work hard and stay focused.”

Platinum are topping the table with 13 wins, four draws and three loses in 20 games.
