Maphisa man sentenced to 15 years for raping 12-year-old sister

A 28-YEAR-OLD man from Matobo District, Maphisa, in Matabeleland, has been arraigned for sexually assaulting his 12-year-old biological sister.

It is reported that on 24 December 2024, the accused and the victim were sharing a room when the man allegedly woke up and instructed the young girl to undress. When she refused, he forcibly removed her clothes and raped her. The accused allegedly raped the minor again on 28 January 2025.

The assault came to light when the victim confided in a neighbour, who alerted the neighbourhood watch. The community group set a trap and caught the suspect in a compromising position with his sister.

The incident was reported to the police, resulting in the offender’s arrest. The accused was found guilty and sentenced to 15 years in prison.
