Marange cattle rustler nabbed

STEALING a cow and its calf landed a Marange man in trouble after he was arrested in connection with the offence. Rushmore Nyamutata of Maponde Village was not asked to plead when he appeared in court for stocktheft. Mutare magistrate, Mr Poterai Gwezhira, presided over the matter, while Mr Fletcher Karombe prosecuted.
He was remanded in custody to September 5.
It is alleged that on August 18 at Maponde Village, Chief Marange, Nyamutata stole Mr Lloyd Manyengavana’s brown cow and its calf. He drove the two beasts away unnoticed.
He was, however, arrested the following day when his neighbour alerted other villagers that they were two beasts tied to a tree in Nyamutata’s field.
When other villagers went to the field to investigate, the cattle had been removed. The villagers traced the hooves mark and effected citizen’s arrest on him.
