A MARANGE woman is refusing to vacate her matrimonial home despite her estranged husband’s claims that he is done with her.
Sharon Matengambiri argues that her husband, Brian Makute, is denying her access to their Bwizi Village homestead and her clothes.
The couple recently appeared before Mutare magistrate, Mr Xavier Chipato, as Matengambiri applied for a protection order against her husband.
The protection order was granted in Mutengambiri’s favour.
It bars Mukute from denying Mutengambiri access to the Bwizi Village property.
Mr Chipato also advised Mukute to follow proper divorce channels.
Matengambiri said she customarily got married to Makute in 2011.
However, Makute is said to be abusive and has allegedly not been taking care of his children.
“We are both teachers but my husband does not take care of our children. He leaves everything to me and I was forced me to apply for maintenance in 2013,” said Matengambiri.
She also said her husband is refusing to facilitate the acquisition of their children’s birth certificates.
However, Makute told the court that he has been divorced from Matengambiri ever since he gave her father a divorce token early this year.
“Since we got married, my wife has been refusing to accompany me to my village. She says the area is infested with witches. She has also been barring my children from accompanying me to the village.
“When l wanted to take my children to the village, Mutengambiri wept uncontrabbly. The people who were listening in to our conversation ended up asking if l was the children’s father.
“I am incensed by her stubborness and that prompted me to end our marriage. She said she had no challenges with us parting ways.
“However, she refused to accompany me to her parents’ home to give them the divorce token. I went there alone and gave the divorce token to her father. He accepted it,” said Makute.
He also said he is suprised by Mutengambiri’s claims that the Bwizi Village home is a family property since she never assisted in constructing it.
