HIGHLANDERS and head coach Mark Harrison have agreed to suspend the coach’s contract until the Premier Soccer League resumes, B-Metro Sport reports.

The Briton will fly back to the United Kingdom on Saturday.

“We all know that sporting activities were suspended by Government due to the coronavirus and there are some decisions that had to be taken so we are here to announce that the club and coach Mark Harrison have agreed to suspend the coach’s contract until such a time when the league resumes,” said Highlanders spokesman Ronald Moyo at a Press briefing at the club offices on Tuesday.

Harrison said he was appreciative of the fact that businesses in general were finding it hard to meet their obligations due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

“I met with the club to discuss the situation and we agreed that for now I return to the UK to be with my family and wait to see what happens. For now, nobody knows what will happen next, we don’t know when we will play football. I have agreed with the club that I go back to the UK for now and then we reassess the situation.

“We could start (the league) in September or even next year, who knows? It’s not easy, it’s not something that we wanted but we just have to put up with the situation and live with it,” said Harrison.

Harrison remains a Bosso coach, as explained by the club spokesman.

“We agreed that the club together with the coach will keep assessing the situation, which means that Mark remains the Highlanders coach. The reason he is going back to the UK is because we don’t know when the league is going to start and we decided to allow him to go back home,” said Moyo.
