MARK NGWAZI AT EIGHT

MARK Ngwazi says he can’t wait to celebrate his eighth anniversary in the game.

As part of the celebrations, the Njanja Express leader says he sees the grace of the Lord, as he reflects on his musical journey.

Having faced many challenges in the industry, the sungura artist has managed to rise to fame, having released seven albums so far.

He told H-Metro he can’t believe he has come this far, owing to the financial challenges he had to deal with.

“I have achieved a lot through music and faced a lot of challenges as well.

“I didn’t have money to record my music since I couldn’t find sponsors or shows because no one knew me.

“When people don’t know you, it’s hard to achieve your dreams, especially in this type of industry,” said Ngwazi who is set to hold the celebrations at Bar Rouge in November.

The pint-sized artist said that fame was hard to handle since people will be watching you and wanting to say some negative stuff.

“Fame is difficult to handle and maintain but I’m trying my very best to handle it.

“You’re not allowed to eat in public since people will be waiting to comment on how you eat or even dress.

“I can’t wear funny clothes anymore or go out wearing shorts because people will post me on social media saying I’m suffering,” he added.

He said he was yet to understand if it’s really him or it’s just a dream.

“I’m finding it hard to believe if it’s really me or it’s just a dream but thanks to my fans and everyone who have worked with me for this journey to be a success.

“When I look back at where I started, I start crying.

“When I released Taurai Madzoka in 2020, it made it one of my best years.

“It was my first time seeing white people, and even Chinese and Indians, dancing to my music and also celebrities like Yemi Alade.”
