Marondera comes alive!

Tonight the popular hangout in the town hosts dancehall star  Sniper Storm while tomorrow, the spotlight will be on Red Rat Outdoor where reggae crooner Mic Inity and his Hotta Fire Band will be rocking the masses.
His longtime friends Dadza D and Appy T will support Mic Inity.
Born Mike Madamombe on January 23, 1983, Mic Inity’s claim to fame may have been as a cover version master, but he surely won’t be remembered for singing other people’s music.
After a lifetime of singing cover versions from yesteryear greats like Bob Marley to recent tunes from the likes of Jah Cure and Mavado, Mic Inity released his debut 13-track album “Freedom”.
His booming voice quickly reminds many of Buju Banton and his stage act clearly tells the story of a talented young musician who, if he keeps the feet on the ground, is likely to take the world stage by storm. His music caters for both the young and the mature.
“Freedom” is a social commentary, prayer, dance and collaborative effort featuring Kenyan Sister Mercy, Jamaican Lutan Faya and rising dancehall singer and music producer Guspy Warrior.
Amazingly Mic Inity commands a huge following in Harare where he hosts the “Weddy Weddy Wednesday” parties where he performs live on stage.
Dunmore Mutyambizi, the director of Rat & Mouse and Red Rat Outdoor, said the gigs lined up for this weekend had been dubbed “Pleasure Overdose”.
“There is so much that is going to be happening in Marondera since it’s the last day of the agricultural show. It is going to be a big day for me because it’s my birthday. To thank our patrons there is going to be discounted prices on drinks and tickets. We urge fans and visitors to the town to come and celebrate with us,” Mutyambizi said.
He said there was also going to be a braai organised by the provincial police fund-raising committee and a charity soccer match pitting Marondera Municipality team against Primus Real Magents team featuring musicians among them Mic Inity, Dadza D and Sniper Storm.
