Marozva’s death blow to music industry

Marozva was one of Chitungwiza’s renowned musicians, known for his hit single “Tariro” and the blockbuster hit “Dada Nechako” taken off his debut album “Tariro”.

He was diagnosed with kidney-related illness in 2006 and suffered for seven years before he was admitted into Harare Hospital recently, where he later succumbed to the illness.
Marozva was born on the May 1, 1967 in Zaka.

Marozva attended Zaka Primary School and completed his secondary education at Nashville High in Chitungwiza.
After secondary he worked briefly as a customs officer.

His passion for music which he began when he was only five did not fade away, so it was not a surprise that he started music after retiring from his job in 2002.
In the very same year, he signed a record deal with Gramma Records and his debut album “Tariro” entered the charts in 2002 making it one of the biggest releases that year.

Prior to the recording of this album he formed a session band with Julius Phiri and Vincent Gurere.
Marozva was also able to play every instrument, including the flute which his father played, thus giving him control over the material the band played.

After the success of his album Marozva further improved his music when he joined a group called Pensioners Band.
He, however, was diagnosed with a kidney problem and never released any song with his latest outfit.

He is survived by his wife Chenai (45) and his two sons Tapiwa and Tawanda.
Marozva was described as a devoted husband, caring, supportive father and another great voice in this country’s rich musical history.
