MARTIN Sibanda and his outfit Ndolwane Super sounds are itching to quench the thirst of their fans in Bulawayo as they stage their first show in the city in over a year.
The Big Boss, as Sibanda sometimes calls himself, has been holding shows in South Africa and around the country in places such as Lupane, Tsholotsho, Kezi, Plumtree and Inyathi.
It is rare for Sibanda and his Ndolwane crew to stage a show in the city but today Esiqongweni Tavern in Lobengula West is the place to be.
“We are coming to Bulawayo to meet our legion of fans that are thirsty for our music. It has been a long time since Martin and Ndolwane have performed in the city and we promise a time to remember,” said Ndolwane manager Thandazani Nyoni.
Still riding high on his latest album, Konke Sizakulungisa which has been receiving heavy rotation on radio stations in the country, the manager said they were going to dish it out old hits to their fans as there was no new music from the muso this year.
“Fans should expect the Ndolwane type of music that they know and enjoy. I can’t promise that there will be new music from him as we don’t have a new album in the pipeline but all the songs that fans have come to love will be performed for them,” said Nyoni.
He said they had taken so much time to come to Bulawayo because promoters in the city were not booking them.
“Most of our hires we were getting outside Bulawayo. We don’t know why, perhaps there’s not much cash for them to spend or is it that promoters don’t see booking us as profitable, I’m not sure. However, our fans always want us to come to the city whenever we perform outside Bulawayo,” said Nyoni.
Esiqongweni Tavern proprietor Philani Ndlovu said the show marked the beginning of their summer season programme.
“We saw it fit as the summer season is upon us to start it off on a high note with Martin and Ndolwane Super sounds. The show will start at 4PM and entrance will be free,” said Ndlovu.
