National team batsman Masakadza, dropped twice by the Tuskers fielders before he reached his hundred faced up to 263 deliveries, cracked 24 fours and one six and ended the day on 160 runs as Mountaineers who made 264 runs in their first innings closed the day on 310 for the loss of five wickets which gives them a 257 run lead over Tuskers who declared their first innings on 317 for eight.
Matabeleland Tuskers will rue the two opportunities Masakadza gave them to dismiss him as those might prove costly.
The match enters its penultimate day with Mountaineers on 18 runs without loss. The visitors lost skipper Tinotenda Mawoyo and his opening partner Kevin Kasuza early in the morning session.
First to go was Mawoyo, given out leg before wicket to Christopher Mpofu for 14 runs with Kasuza also out leg before wicket to Glenn Querl.
Masakadza however, stood tall as he led his side’s recovery. He made full use of the two lives he was given by the Tuskers fielders with an 83-run partnership for the third wicket with Mark Pettini and a 111 stand for the fourth wicket with Gregory Lamb.
The match enters its fourth and final day this morning with Masakadza and wicketkeeper Dan Hodgson the two batsmen at the crease. Mountaineers hold the aces and would be looking at scoring as many runs in the morning session to give Tuskers a huge target to chase later on in the day.
