Mashaba blasts critics

BAFANA Bafana coach Shakes Mashaba has promised to deal with those people who still doubt his qualities as the national team boss. The national mentor came under widespread criticism following South Africa’s group stage exit at Afcon 2015 earlier this year. And it seems Shakes has not forgotten the harsh words aimed at him as he caused a stir during a press conference held in Johannesburg on Monday, firing shots at his doubters and warning them that he will deal with them in time.

“I want to close this on a sad note and nobody will expect what I will have said: I am Ephraim Mashaba. Those who still doubt my qualities of coaching the national team are wasting time,” he said.

“Some people still question whether I am the right person to coach this team or not.
“Who is the right person to coach this team? I am right person to coach this team.”
The former Orlando Pirates defender said race should not be a factor to consider in his position as national coach.

“I am South African by nature,” he continued. “I deserve to be here and the colour of my skin doesn’t stop me from coaching the national team.
“I want people to know, it’s one section. I will deal with it in time. Thank you.” — KICKOFF.
