Mashonganyika raises profile

programme at Methodist University in Fayetteville, North Carolina, during the 2012-2013 academic year.
The PTM programme will see Mashonganyika being involved in leadership, legal and marketing studies in the tennis industry.
The duration of the course is four years and Mashonganyika will complete it in June 2016.
Speaking from his base at Waukegan in Illinois, United States, yesterday, Mashonganyika could not contain his excitement after the Methodist University’s Charles M Reeves School of Business and Economics faculty accepted him for this four-year programme.
“I am going to be the first person from Africa as a whole to enroll for the PTM programme. This programme is going to benefit our tennis programmes in Africa and uplift our development programmes in Zimbabwe.
“As I have previously said, I am going to open one of the best tennis academies in Zimbabwe for all levels of players and train beginners, intermediate and advanced coaches in Africa as a whole.
“I am currently both a Professional Tennis Registry (PTR) International Certified Professional and a United States Professional Tennis Registry (USPTA) certified coach,” Mashonganyika said.
Mashonganyika is a product of Albert Nhamoyebonde’s Mufakose Tennis Coaching Agency in Zimbabwe and he left this country in 2009 to coach in South Africa.
He worked at Champs Tennis Academy in Cape Town, South Africa, as a professional coach from 2009 to 2010.
That was before he moved to upgrade his coaching skills from top tennis coaches in the United States in March 2010.
In June this year, Mashonganyika scored a first when he became the only Zimbabwean to acquire three certifications in adult development, junior development and in high performance training under the United States’ Professional Tennis Registry.
In fact, there are only less than 50 out of 14 000 members in the world of tennis with all the three certifications in adult development, junior development and high performance training, and Zimbabwean Mashonganyika is among the elite few.
But it is Mashonganyika’s recent enrolment at Methodist University which is going to raise his profile as one of the most qualified tennis coaches from Zimbabwe.
