inaugural tournament is expected to attract several professionals and top amateurs who will be battling it out for the US$15 000 tournament.
Businessman Alex “Dr Mash” Mashamhanda, a member of the club, is sponsoring the tournament.
Tongo Charamba is likely to be the major drawcard.
Charamba, who attacks the Falcon number one green from the tee box, is likely to dominate this tournament.
Charamba’s challenge is likely to come from Vengesai Phiri who came back to good form this season.
Phiri, who usually trains at the club, knows the course very well.
Roger Jack could also feature prominently as he has good knowledge of the course where he played before moving to Chapman.
The par three number three hole, nicknamed “Falcon Hole,” provides serious challenges for the golfers.
The country’s leading amateur, Clive Nguru, was a Falcom member during the early days of his career and could be a big factor today.
Emmanuel Hungwe, the current Zimbabwe golf team captain, also had a stint at the club.
Alex Masendeke and Munetsi Munetsi could provide the home challenge for the Falcon members.
Munetsi is the current club champion.
Former club captain and stand-in chairman, Eddie Murungweni, promised to deliver a great tournament.
“We are happy with what Mashamhanda has done and we look forward to have more tournaments of this magnitude in the future,” he said.
“The game will be played in the true spirit of sportsmanship. The golfers will enjoy the tournament as the course is in its best shape we are hopeful that there will be a lot of good golf and fun.”
