Masomere targets youth for Shabanie revival

focused on Division One players below the age of 25.
Masomere helped Shabanie to avoid relegation from the Castle Lager Premiership this year.

“We were fighting relegation this season and next season I want to finish in the top eight although I might as well target the championship,” said Masomere.
“I want to collect maximum points at home but as the season progresses, imwe team ikabwaira chete, we will go tops.

“What happened last season was not healthy for us, as a team, because surviving relegation at the last-minute was very dangerous and we will start the 2012 season on a better note as we strive to finish in a very respectable position.

“I need a new team. This season I had one leftback, one right back and each every position had just one player.
“I need to sign players to fill every position, so I have a lot of positions to be filled. I am just calling on all those players, who want to come and play for Shabanie, to do that now as I am finishing trials on Saturday”

Shabanie are likely to lose the services of Tawanda Mareya to Hwange, Caleb Masocha to Highlanders and the duo of Rowan Nenzou and captain Simon Shoko to neighbours FC Platinum if the two players impress coach Rahman Gumbo.

The players are out of contract with the asbestos miners.
Masomere is also believed to be keen in having Masvingo United playmaker Pervington Zimunya.

“I just want to sign four seasoned players but I need the bulk of young players from Division One as they are full of energy and are willing to learn,” said Masomere.
“I can not have old players in my team because you can’t teach old dogs new tricks and that is why I do not need old players in my team as they are not hungry for success”.

Masomere is also keeping a close eye at players on trials at FC Platinum.
“If some of the players who came for trials are not signed and I get the chance to have two or three willing to come to Shabanie Mine, I will be very happy,” he said.
Shabanie club chairman, Webster Chitono, secretary-general Chengetai Phiri and Masomere were busy going through the lists of players they want for the next season.
